Orthopedics

Orthopedic consultations are designed to diagnose locomotor pathologies in your pets (lameness).

They are provided by Dr. SEVETTE, who has undergone specific training with renowned colleagues (former intern at the Frégis Veterinary Hospital, former assistant in surgery and anesthesiology at the National Veterinary School in Lyon).

At the end of the consultation, various diagnostic examinations can be performed: orthopedic examinations under anaesthesia, X-rays under anaesthesia (hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, OCD of the shoulders…)

Confirmation x-rays of hips and elbows for LOF dogs (pedigree dogs intended for breeding) are performed exclusively by Dr. Sevette.

Ophthalmology

Ophthalmology consultations are provided by Dr. PERRONE who has undergone specific training with specialists in this field.

She graduated from the School of Ophthalmology of the National Veterinary School of Alfort, and worked as an ophthalmology assistant at the Aquivet Veterinary Hospital in Bordeaux for over a year.

All the equipment is available in the clinic to diagnose acquired or congenital pathologies as well as for any surgery that may be necessary

Surgery

Surgeries are performed by Dr. Sevette, who after an internship at the Frégis Veterinary Hospital, completed a one-year assistantship at the Lyon Veterinary School.
It performs as well :

  • General surgeries: sterilizations, removal of masses, caesarean sections.
  • Orthopedic surgeries: placement of osteosynthesis plates on fractures, management of dysplastic animals.
  • Visceral surgeries: removal of foreign bodies…

Our surgical block has a complete equipment, regularly maintained and renewed with the evolution of technologies. We use :

Three gas anaesthesia machines

  • Two electric scalpels
  • Several anesthetic monitoring
  • Four infusion pumps

After each surgery, all our instruments are sterilized by an autoclave, which is a steam sterilization (moist heat); this technique, also used in human surgery departments, allows the elimination of infectious agents. A new machine was added to the clinic’s sterilization equipment in 2018.

Anesthesiology

We pay particular attention to pain management: Since 2018 the VetosAlpilles clinic has been part of the Cap Douleur veterinary network, a veterinary network for continuing education with the aim of permanently improving pain management for pets(www.capdouleur.fr).

Each animal, for each surgery benefits from a close monitoring and veterinary surveillance in order to guarantee the anesthetic safety of your animals, and to ensure that any intervention takes place in optimal conditions.

Before each operation, a pre-anesthetic check-up adapted to our patients is proposed: it is, indeed, interesting to make sure that the organs involved in the elimination of anesthetic products are functioning properly

Ultrasound

The veterinarians in our clinics perform abdominal ultrasounds for our patients but also for patients referred by other colleagues.

They train regularly throughout the year and are part of the AFVAC (French association of pet veterinarians) which provides a large part of our annual training.

Dr. Valli is board certified in internal medicine and has completed extensive training in cardiology. She performs echocardiography for dogs and cats. She participates in numerous training sessions in order to propose recommendations in accordance with current data.

Radiography

We have a digital X-ray machine. It is a powerful and non-invasive imaging system. The power of the device allows to radiograph all animals from the guinea pig to the biggest dog.

The digital workstation allows us to obtain highly sensitive examinations. We have a digital X-ray machine that allows us to take very high quality images, consistently and quickly, and to store them on the clinic’s computer network, so that they can be accessed at any time.

The images can be sent to you either by e-mail or on a USB key. X-rays are an important part of the diagnosis in cardiology, pneumology, gastroenterology and orthopedics.

Our analysis laboratory is modern and complete. Every year, investments are made in this area to offer a faster and more efficient diagnosis.
This laboratory allows us to operate in an almost autonomous way, to follow our patients at their bedside (results in less than ten minutes) and to have only few samples to send to an external laboratory.

We are equipped with a range of IDEXX equipment, specially developed for animals and calibrated for each species, allowing us to perform numerous analyses: Blood count, biochemistry, endocrinology…
But other devices allow :

  • To make a diagnosis on masses
  • To do coagulation tests
  • To follow our diabetic patients
  • To search for leishmaniasis, dirofilariasis and many other infectious diseases…

Nutrition

We offer a wide range of pet food products that we have chosen for their high quality (high quality of raw materials, high digestibility, high palatability,…).

Due to age, breed and medical history, one animal will have different nutritional needs than another. Because nutrition contributes to the health and well-being of your pet, our teams are trained to advise you in the choice of food to distribute to your animal.

2 main types of food are to be distinguished:

– Physiological maintenance food, intended for animals in good health, – Therapeutic food, intended for animals suffering from a pathology, essential complement to the medical treatment.

We can provide you with many other references than those present in the clinic, just place your order with our specialized auxiliaries or from our online store.
